Shell Eggs Broken Up 14 Percent from Last Year
October 2015 contained 22 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 5 Saturdays. October 2016 contained 21 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 5 Saturdays.
Shell eggs broken totaled 199 million dozen during October 2016, up 14 percent from October a year ago, and 1 percent above the 196 million broken during the previous month. During calendar year 2016, shell eggs broken totaled 1.90 billion dozen, up 7 percent from 2015.
Cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2016 was 2.44 billion pounds, up 6 percent from 2015.
