This publication details the latest national statistics produced by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the slaughter of cattle, sheep and pigs, dressed carcase weights and meat production taken from surveys of slaughterhouses run by the UK Agricultural Departments.

UK Slaughter Statistics

UK clean sheep slaughterings for July 2014 were 1270,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 29,000 tonnes.

UK clean sheep slaughterings for June 2014 were 907,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 21,000 tonnes.

UK clean sheep slaughterings for March 2014 were 840,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 21,000 tonnes.

UK clean sheep slaughterings for November 2013 were 1,083,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 25,000 tonnes.

UK clean sheep slaughterings for October 2013 were 1,486,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 34,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings were 4.8 per cent lower than in November 2011 at 160 thousand head.

UK prime cattle slaughterings were 8 per cent lower than in May 2011 at 156 thousand head.

UK clean sheep slaughterings for March 2012 were 820,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 20,000 tonnes.

UK clean sheep slaughterings for February 2012 were 788,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 19,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings for January 2012 were 943,000 head and pig meat production was 78,000 tonnes.
