BRAZIL - The competition authority in Brazil has given the final go-ahead to poultry meat and dairy processor BRF for the takeover of Lactalis.
Moves to takeover the Lactalis dairy division in Brazil from the Italian company Parmalat in 2012.
The competition authority CADE gave its final approval of the deal last week following the decision of the secretary general of the Antitrust Authority in April.
BRF now takes control of the former Lactalis Brazil plants at Bom Conselho (PE), Carambeí (PR), Ravenna (MG) , Concordia (SC), Teutônia (RS), Itumbiara (GO), Terenos (MS), Ijuí (RS), Três de Maio I (RS), Três de Maio II (RS) and Santa Rosa (RS), as well as their assets and brands, "Batavo", "Elegé", "Cotochés", "Santa Rosa" and "DoBon".
