RUSSIA - Russian veterinary authorities have seized more than 13 tonnes of beef being exported from Ukraine to Crimea.
The beef, which was labelled as chilled beef halves weighing 13.254 tonnes was being sent to Crimea from Vinnitsa in Ukraine to a private business in Yalta.
Inspection of the documents found that they did not specify the place of production and a number of breeches of the rules covering the physical inspection of the carcases was noticed.
The products had no veterinary stamp mark and half the carcases were being transported too close to each other and touching the floors and walls of the vehicle and had obvious signs of damage.
There was no veterinary sanitation mark on the carcases.
Because of the violations of the sanitary regulations the carcases were sent back.
