IRELAND- Irish meat processor Dawn Meats has been awarded the title ‘Waterford Business of the Year’ at the Waterford Business Awards.
The event which was organised by the Waterford Chamber of Commerce and their media partners WLR FM saw Waterford’s top businesses celebrated for their success and extraordinary contribution to the local economy of Waterford city and county.
The awards are designed to celebrate and honour the very best businesses within the county across ten categories: Arts and Culture, Best Small Business, Community and Social Enterprise, Food and Agri-Business, Innovation and Technology, Manufacturing and Industry, New Business, Retail, Services, Tourism and Hospitality and Business of the Year.
Having been shortlisted alongside Irish Handmade Glass and Metalman Brewing Company, Dawn Meats were successful in winning the ‘Manufacturing and Industry’ category which was sponsored by Waterford Institute of Technology.
Dawn Meats then went head to head with each of the category winners to win the overall award ‘Waterford Business of the Year’ as sponsored by Waterford city and county council.
Speaking about the awards, the Major of Waterford City and County, Cllr James Tobin said: “When I look at the nominees I realise we are celebrating Waterford’s best. These are people and businesses who would all hold their own in any company both nationally and internationally. Waterford’s future is indeed bright with these businesses leading the way and giving inspiration to others.”
Receiving the ‘Waterford Business of the Year’ title, Niall Browne from Dawn Meats said: “We are delighted, honoured and very proud to accept this award on behalf of all the team in Dawn Meats.”
