PARAGUAY – Cattle slaughter in Paraguay leapt 28 per cent, up 1.92 million, in 2014, as the industry continued rebuilding from Foot and Mouth.
Further increases as high as 15 per cent are expected again in 2015 as year on year increases continue trending higher following the culling of the FMD outbreak in 2010.
According to the National Service for Animal Health and Quality, Beef production reached a new record last year, reaching 450,552 tonnes, with significant shipments to Russia and China.
Beef sector value totalled US$ 1.68 billion in 2014 including offal and by-products.
