EU - The pig slaughter market remains steady, with the quotations moving sideways.
Unchanged quotations are reported from the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Ireland.
From Denmark, where the price had gone down last week, an unchanged quotation is also reported.
The German pig slaughter quotation being steady is echoed in the other EU member countries. The extensive quantities on offer are all being bought by the slaughter companies.
In France, the price quoted on the Marché du Porc Breton was 2.8 cents lower than last week’s price, now being a corrected €1.279 per kg slaughter weight.
Competition is tough with the other EU member countries. As reported from France, the French producers’ situation is disastrous.
After marginal price corrections, the Spanish hope for positive stimulus for exports to third countries during the second half of January.
The Austrians’ assessment is more cautious. The traditional January exports to Russia are failing to appear this year.
Trend for the German market: The quantities on offer sold well, although there is continuous pressure in the market. The steadiness is stabilising the market and price development is expected to remain unchanged.
