JAPAN - Japan and Hong Kong have reached an agreement to eliminate the 30 month age limit on beef exports.
Hong Kong had only accepted beef from cattle aged under 30 months since February 2013.
However, following quarantine negotiations between Japanese and Hong Kong’s agriculture and health ministries it has been agreed to allow beef from older cattle according to the Japanese agriculture ministry.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is now amending the health certificates for exports.
