SWITZERLAND - The Micarna Group, a leading Swiss meat processing company and part of the retail chain Migros, has acquired St. Gallen producer of meat specialties Rudolf Schär AG.
Rudolf Schär AG, a medium-sized company in the meat industry, was founded by Rudolf Schär in 1945 in St. Gallen.
Since the early 70s, the company has built a solid reputation outside the borders of the region through its cooked sausages, cheese from Italy, its ham specialties and raw cured products.
The two companies Mircarna and Rudolf Schär have had a close collaboration for many years.
The Micarna group said it wants to continue this successful cooperation and Rudolf Schär AG will retain its 90 employees, its activities as an independent public company on its website Thal.
The purchase price has not been revealed.
" We can grow in our niche segment and join forces to ensure the necessary continuity," said Christian Schär, current director and future Schär AG.
