UK - The memorial service to Sir Ben Gill is to take place at Hereford Cathedral at 12.30pm on Friday 18 July. He served as president of the National Farmers' Union and was a strong supporter of the British pig industry.
A large pig industry contingent will be present at Sir Ben's memorial service, reports Digby Scott.
Sir Ben was a giant figure in the pig industry and it was his vision that made the forming of National Pig Association (NPA) possible.
He was an inspirational NFU president and a staunch ally and mentor to the pig industry, and to leading individuals in the industry, particularly through the difficulties of foot-and-mouth 2001.
Sir Ben served as NFU deputy president between 1992 and 1998 and then president between 1998 and 2004.
He became nationally-known as a formidable fighter for the sector and a champion of British food. He played a key role in leading British farming through the BSE and foot-and-mouth crises of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Sir Ben died in May, aged 64.
