UK - Moy Park, one of Europe’s leading food companies, has been recognised with a Dairy Crest Rural Action Award and a UK ‘Big Tick’ for the second year running as part of Business in the Community’s Northern Ireland Impact Awards 2014.
Moy Park first achieved the Big Tick in 2013 in the Dairy Crest Rural Action Award category for the company’s responsible business practices and has been reaccredited this year for demonstrating a continuous effort to create opportunities for youth employment in pastoral areas to benefit the rural economy.
Brian Moreland, Corporate Responsibility Manager for Moy Park, commented, “We’re delighted to have been reaccredited this year and to once again receive a UK Big Tick for our corporate responsibility work.”
He continued, “As a business, acting responsibly and helping to support those who live in each of the communities we operate in always remains top of our agenda. The judges recognised our on-going efforts to engage with young people through our work with organisations such as Young Enterprise NI and CAFRE and Loughry College. We were also commended for our involvement in new schemes including the IGD Feeding Britain’s Future initiative and for our recent partnership with the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster.”
“We look forward to continuing to work proactively to raise awareness of the opportunities that exist within the agri-food sector and to help young people develop the skills they need to pursue a career in this thriving industry.”
The Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards is the UK’s longest-running and most respected corporate responsibility awards. Moy Park was presented with its Big Tick re-accreditation certificate at the Northern Ireland Responsible Business Awards Gala Dinner on 5th June at Belfast Waterfront Hall.
Commenting, Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said:
“All year round, responsible businesses across the UK are contributing towards more resilient communities, stimulating local economies, creating diverse, skilled and healthy workforces and addressing skills shortages - yet these activities rarely get attention. The Responsible Business Awards shine a much needed spotlight on the powerful impact of business. Each of the companies recognised are playing their part to build a new contract between business and society and a more sustainable future for us all. I congratulate Moy Park for its’ Big Tick reaccreditation, which is a powerful symbol of business doing more to bring about change.”
