UK - Match day for Sunderland AFC on Saturday 15 March was not just about their game against Crystal Palace but also about the food on the supporters’ plates in Corporate Hospitality after they gained Red Tractor certification on their red meat.
The Stadium of Light, home of the Black Cats, well known for its award winning hospitality, service and cuisine has become the latest Barclays Premier League club to become Red Tractor certified for its red meat products.
The Red Tractor logo is a mark of quality assurance that shows that food or drink products have been independently inspected throughout the food chain and meet responsible standards of production as well as being traceable back to UK farms. The club chose the Red Tractor logo to show its commitment to providing its corporate hospitality clientele with good quality, traceable and sustainable food.
As provider of executive catering at the Stadium of Light, 1879 Events Management, work closely with local producers to source the region’s best ingredients and with the club’s affiliation with the Red Tractor logo, it’s guaranteeing the origin of its meat to thousands of football fans week in, week out.
Gary Hutchinson, commercial director at SAFC said: “We are proud to have achieved Red Tractor certification, enabling us to use the Red Tractor logo on the red meat we serve to our corporate hospitality clients. The logo demonstrates our commitment to sourcing quality, Red Tractor Assured produce and provides the reassurance our customers are looking for.”
Bidvest 3663, the club’s main catering supplier and subsidiary of Sunderland AFC’s principal partner Bidvest, was match sponsor for last weekend’s match against Crystal Palace. In affiliation with the recent announcement, a whole host of activities took place outside the stadium pre-match including a farm animal photo booth with free samples of bacon soup on offer for fans to tuck into.
Richard Cattell, Head of Marketing at Red Tractor added: “We are thrilled that Sunderland AFC has become the latest premier league football club to gain Red Tractor certification.
“The Red Tractor logo gives assurances on animal welfare, environmental protection, food safety as well as origin and can be traced from independently inspected farms in the UK to, in this instance, the Stadium of Light. It’s the easiest way to identify quality, traceable food you can trust.”
Outside the Stadium of Light will be a real red tractor from global manufacturer Massey Ferguson to celebrate the unique partnership.
Rob Dunk, National Sales Manager for Massey Ferguson UK said: “It is great to see Sunderland AFC supporting Red Tractor farmers and we’re delighted that our tractor will take pride and place in such an iconic location.”
