Stavropol Livestock Sector Retains Strong Position06 January 2014
RUSSIA - The Stavropol region of Russia expected to increase its cattle and pig herds by two and four per cent respectively, according to figures from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
The region is expected to maintain its level of milk production which at present is 685,000 tonnes, while meat and poultry production will be more than 340,000 tons.
Overall gross agricultural production will be worth 110 billion rubles, which is nine per cent more compared to last year.
Profit of 11 billion rubles shows a 10 per cent growth, which is down to the growth and modernisation of the livestock breeding sector.
Profitability last year reached 19 per cent.
The ministry expects the proportion of profitable agricultural enterprises to increase by three per cent, to 95 in the coming year.
