Danish Crown Opens New Offices in London05 December 2013
UK - Danish Crown, Denmark’s largest meat producing co-operative, has announced the opening of a new office in London.
The establishment of a new London hub will have a particular focus on developing the company’s presence in the foodservice market and expanding sales of its new range of beef products.
The new sales office will be based in London’s Smithfield Market and will complement the trading activities of the established Danish Crown UK Head Office in Whitefield in Manchester.
“Traditionally our UK business has focused on pork and bacon and supply to the meat manufacturing and processing industry and their retail customers.
“There are a number of factors behind our decision to set up a London office. We have identified major opportunities for us to develop our business in the foodservice area, which is set to benefit from the recovery in the UK economy.
“We have already enjoyed success with our new range of quality beef products, which has encouraged us to set ambitious targets in this market. We are very excited about the opportunities which will follow the opening of our new cattle slaughterhouse next year,” says Danish Crown UK Managing Director, Lars Albertsen
Danish Crown is in the final stages of constructing a new cattle slaughterhouse in Holsted in South West Jutland. An investment of DKK 700m (£77m) is being made in creation of Europe’s largest and most modern facility, which will slaughter around 4,500 animals per week, representing around half of the weekly cattle slaughterings in Denmark. The plant is due to go into production in the spring of 2014
