South Korea Blocks Some US Beef Exports10 October 2013
SOUTH KOREA - Some US beef exports to South Korea have been suspended following the discovery of the feed supplement zilpaterol in one shipment.
Reports say that the ingredient under the brand name Zilmax was found in a shipment exported to South Korea by one of the US plants of the Brazilian beef and food giant JBS.
JBS is reported to be working with the South Korean officials to resolve the matter.
However, US exporters do not believe the incident is likely to have a deep effect on US exports South Korea that account for about 11 per cent of the total US beef exports.
