Beef Consumption Falling, Pork Rising in Uruguay19 September 2013
URUGUAY - Beef consumption in the first half of 2013 was very similar to that recorded in the previous year, showing a slight contraction of around 1.2 per cent, representing a monthly average of 14,000 tons.
In sheep and pig meat, there was an increase in the rate of consumption by around 43.2 and 5.4 per cent respectively.
The accumulated total of beef, pork and lamb showed no significant changes (slight variation of -0.1 per cent).
Considering the past 12 months ending in June 2013 then the change in consumption of meat showed no substantial changes, just a slight increase of 0.3 per cent.
