Farmbox Meats Frozen Meat Strips Recalled

09 September 2013

UK – Meat from a company that was at the centre of the horse meat scandal in the UK at the beginning of the year has been recalled over concerns over food safety.

The company formerly trading as Farmbox Meats from Ceredigion in Wales supplied frozen lamb, beef and mutton trim that has not been subject to proper temperature controls and does not comply with traceability requirements according to the Food Standards Agency.

The FSA said it had not been possible to obtain full distribution details or product traceability records for products supplied.

The products were frozen lamb, beef and mutton trim, predominantly in frozen blocks.

Local authority enforcement officers have been called on to contact the relevant establishments in their area likely to purchase the product and ensure that if the product is found it is withdrawn from sale and detained.

The plant stopped trading in June.
