McAdam Food Sues ABP over Horse Meat Allegations19 August 2013
IRELAND - The owner of a meat trading group in Ireland is to sue a major food processor over allegations that linked it to the horse meat contamination of beef products earlier this year.
According to reports from Ireland, Martin McAdam has launched legal action against the ABP Food Group for making false allegations against him and his company, McAdam Food Products.
The case surrounds the discovery of horse meat DNA in a number of beef products following tests by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland in January this year.
One of the companies linked to the products that were contaminated was Silvercrest, which at the time was owned by ABP.
It has since been sold to the Kepak group.
Mr McAdam’s assertion is that there is no evidence linking him to the product at Silvercrest
