Norway Sets Ban on Live, Chilled Clams from Turkey06 August 2013
NORWAY - The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has set new safeguards for the importing of clams from Turkey. These regulations come into force on 5 August 2013.
The regulation imposes an import ban aimed at living and chilled clams from Turkey.
Furthermore, there is now a requirement that shipments of frozen and processed clams from Turkey are to be tested for E. coli and marine biotoxins before they are released into the market in the EU.
These new regulations have come about after constant discovery of E. coli and marine biotoxins in these products from Turkey.
