National Beef Recalls Ground Beef

US - National Beef Packing Co,is recalling a consignment of ground beef because of concerns over E.coli contamination.

The company’s Liberal production establishment #208A, has initiated the voluntary recall for NatureSource Natural Beef, Naturewell Natural Beef and National Beef commodity ground beef because one 10 pound chub tested positive for E. coli O157:H7.

The recall is voluntary, and there have been no reported illnesses related to the recall.

“We are working closely with authorities to investigate this matter and are contacting our customers who have purchased this product,” the company said.

The recall is isolated to a small group of products affecting 50,100 pounds of ground beef produced on 18 July with a use by/freeze by date of 7 August 2013.

The ground beef was originally shipped in clear, 10 pound chubs and was shipped to a limited number of retailers and wholesale and food service distributors in approximately 70 lbs. boxes.
