Ukraine Poultry Meat Exports Rise24 July 2013
UKRAINE - Ukraine is expected to export more than 50,000 tonnes of poultry products to the European Union this year.
At the same time the agriculture ministry predicts that it will halve its own imports of poultry meat.
The Minister for Agriculture and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyk said that since the beginning of the year production of poultry had increased by 6.7 per cent.
“I am sure that this year we will export at least 50,000 tonnes of poultry meat and this volume will grow.
Over the last six months meat exports from Ukraine have risen by 65 per cent largely thanks to the growth in poultry meat exports.
At the same time imports of meat have fallen by 15 per cent.
Most of the exports go to Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Uzbekistan and Viet Nam, but Mr Prysyazhnyk also stressed the importance of the EU market.
