French Sausage Given PGI Status

EU - A specialist French sausage is among four products that the European Commission has approved for registration in the list of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI).

Montbéliard sausage from France, a smoked pork sausage of Franche-Comté , receives PGI status. 

Othe products to be recognised are "Fraises de Nîmes" (PGI), early strawberries produced in the "Plateau des Costières" around Nimes; for Spain: the "Pasas de Málaga" (PDO), raisins from the Málaga region obtained from grapes of muscat of Alexandria dried in the sun, and for Greece: "Agoureleo Chalkidikis "(Αγουρ?λαιο Χαλκιδικ?ς" PDO), extra virgin olive oil produced in the department of Chalkidiki from local varieties of olives.
