Yum Forecasts China Sales Recovery in Fourth Quarter14 June 2013
CHINA - Yum Food's China sales fell 19 per cent in May, indicating a slow-down in the decline resulting from bird flu fears and an earlier food safety scare.
Yum Brands Inc, the owner of KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants, said same-store sales in China fell 19 per cent in May, as a result of the bird flu impact and food scare after the KFC's chicken scandal.
China Daily reports that the fast food giant saying it expects its China sales to turn positive in the fourth quarter, which usually contributes nearly half of Yum's total revenue.
The Kentucky-based company reported this week that second-quarter same-store sales fell 20 per cent in China, including a contrasting 26 per cent decline at KFC and seven per cent climb at Pizza Hut stores.
