First Quarter Results Show Continuing Gorgonzola Decline

ITALY – Gorgonzola production fell in the first quarter by almost 5 per cent, the Italian Dairy Association has revealed.

The drop was led by a production fall of 6.98 per cent in January which saw output fall to 352,132 units. This was compounded in April by a further drop of 5.45 per cent.

Regions hit by the downturn are Piemonte and Lombardy. Of the 315,347 units produced in April, 214,199 were produced in Piemonte with the rest being made in Lombardy.
