Premium Standard Farms Changes Company Name21 May 2013
US - Premium Standard Farms, a unit of Smithfield Foods hog production subsidiary, Murphy-Brown, has changed its name to Murphy-Brown of Missouri.
The company said that adopting the Murphy-Brown label will better communicate the nature of Premium Standard's business and the role the company plays in the larger Smithfield Foods organisation.
The change will present a more unified message for how the company is supporting Smithfield Foods' brands, creating value for investors, employees and other stakeholders, the company said.
Michael Rainwater, General Manager of Murphy-Brown of Missouri, said: "This is exciting news for our company and cause for celebration.
“We are solidifying our position as a provider in Smithfield Foods' integrated supply chain, thereby providing increased career opportunities while continuing to be an economic engine in north Missouri.
“We are providing excellent jobs and strong futures for those of us who love to live and work in this rural setting."
