Training Workshop for Kalinga Meat Processors

PHILIPPINES – The Philippine Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provincial office is to conduct skills training for small enterprise meat processors.

Alfonso Berto, provincial DOST officer, said 25 meat processors and other individuals from Balbalan and Lubuagan, who are employed in or are planning to work in other food processing businesses.

The four-day training this week includes productivity and quality control training to teach small enterprise owners how to engage on food processing and ensure supply of product in the market while maintaining quality, according to Mr Berto.

Those conducting the training are Dexie Catacutan, also of DOST, Gloria Wayet of Mayta’s Meat Processing and representatives from the Kalinga-Apayao State College business and enterprise department.

“The practice of resource-sharing is being pursued in all DOST activities and projects to remove from the minds of beneficiaries the dole-out mentality,” Mr Berto said.
