E. coli Outbreak in Atlantic Canada and Ontario09 January 2013
CANADA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is working closely with the Public Health Agency of Canada and provincial authorities in response to cases of E. coli illness reported in Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
The illness investigation is being led by public health authorities, and teh CFIA said that to date, there has been no confirmed link between the illnesses and a food source.
Based on information about the illnesses, specifically what foods were consumed by the individuals, the CFIA said it will investigate potential sources of contamination.
If a potentially unsafe food is identified, the CFIA said it will take immediate action to protect consumers.
