Young's - Protein Manufacturing Company of Year

UK - Young’s Seafood Limited, the UK’s leading supplier of fish and seafood, has been named Protein Manufacturing Company of the Year at the annual Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards.

The award was presented to Young’s Seafood Limited in recognition of its work to encourage consumers to meet the Government guideline of eating fish twice a week, and for its Fish for Life programme. The end to end supply chain excellence of the business and the significant change and integration programmes that have taken place in the UK were also highlighted.

Young’s Seafood Limited has driven the strategy to get consumers eating the recommended portions of fish each week through a number of initiatives including the Jamie Oliver by Young’s range, and the launch of the Gastro products. The business has continued its commitment to its Manufacturing Excellence initiative (Manex) by undertaking a major footprint consolidation involving the transfer of volume between more than five manufacturing sites in the UK, and the transfer of 183 products between sites.

Pete Ward, Chief Operating Officer at Young’s Seafood Limited, who received the award on behalf of the business, said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award, and to have had the business recognised as Protein Manufacturing Company of the Year.”

Our staff at all of our sites have been excellent and continued to produce great products meeting and exceeding customer expectations. This award is a credit to them.”

The Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards were judged by a panel of independent experts, chaired by Paul Wilkinson, all with years of wide-ranging experience in every area of the food industry.

The Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards, now in their 12th year, provide a benchmark for all those wishing to aspire to world class standards in food excellence. The awards are dedicated to recognising and rewarding the very best food and drink manufacturing companies. They honour and highlight those companies that have displayed progress and achievements through their manufacturing process in this competitive and fast moving industry.

This year’s awards ceremony took place at The Park Lane Hilton in London on 5th November and was hosted by Simon Rimmer, resident chef on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch.
