Livestock AGMs Take Place Next Week

09 November 2010

AUSTRALIA - Next week is set to be a busy one for the Victorian Farmers Federation’s (VFF) Livestock Group, as it represents Victorian producers at six of the Livestock Peak Council and Research and Development Corporation’s (RDC) Annual General Meetings (AGM) in Sydney and Launceston.

VFF Livestock Group President Chris Nixon said during 15 – 19 November the Group would attend the AGMs of the Cattle Council of Australia, the Sheepmeat Council of Australia, WoolProducers Australia, the Goat Industry Council of Australia, Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and Australian Wool Innovation.

“Victorian livestock producers will be well represented at the upcoming Annual Meetings of Australia’s peak livestock industry and research bodies, with members of the VFF Livestock Council attending all six meetings,” Chris Nixon said.

“The VFF Livestock Councillors and I will ensure the views of Victorian producers are heard at all Livestock Peak Council AGMs and that their interests are protected at these meetings.

“At the RDC AGMs our focus will remain on ensuring levy monies are managed responsibly moving forward. I urge every Victorian producer who is eligible to vote to attend the RDC AGMs and have their voice heard. If they are unable to attend, it is imperative that proxies are directed to a VFF Livestock Councillor who can vote on their behalf.

“In particular I advise members to ensure their vote counts at the upcoming MLA AGM, which will see a resolution tabled to close the company’s doors by the end of 2011. The VFF is strongly opposed to this and is calling on all MLA members to vote against this resolution,” Mr Nixon concluded.
