Food Safety Conference

US - The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) will hold IAFP 2010, 1-4 August in Anaheim, California.

IAFP 2010 will feature more than 30 symposia, 80 technical presentations and over 400 poster presentations. In addition to the science-based presentations, the four-day meeting will include committee and professional development group meetings, educational exhibits, and an awards banquet.

A number of social events, some tailored exclusively to student members, are also planned. The annual Silent Auction will feature many items for attendees to bid on to raise money for the IAFP Foundation. IAFP will also host a pre-meeting golf tournament.

Two pre-meeting workshops; Characterisation and Identification of Spoilage-causing Fungi: A Hands-on Workshop and Microbial Challenge Testing for Foods will also be presented.

Issues regarding foodborne disease outbreaks, emerging chemical hazards in food, the effects of climate change, best practices for cleaning and third party certification are just a few of the challenges that will be discussed throughout the educational sessions. Special presentations will be made at the opening and closing sessions including the Ivan Parkin Lecture by Mike Taylor, USFDA and the John H. Silliker Lecture delivered by Robert Buchanan, University of Maryland.
